Ms. TINA BODHANWALA SOOD

Tina Bodhanwala Sood, Trustee, Narbod Educational Foundation, joined Tarapore School in the year 2011. Over her 13 years in this institution, she has identified herself as a change facilitator, encouraging freshness and efficiency across the school. She has undertaken a variety of roles, frequently transitioning between them to gain experience in different departments and areas, all while driving improvements and innovation in each.

Tina is a strong believer in making learning fun and school a happy place. She takes a keen interest in kindergarten learning and has coordinated the department for many years. During this time, she introduced and nurtured numerous play-way methods of teaching including Total Physical Response, story mapping, multi-sensory learning and flipped classrooms over all levels. However, she believes that kindness towards children is the foremost duty of an educator and strongly advocates Childism.

She is passionate about English Literature and takes a keen interest in teaching poetry and plays. She wants students to truly understand and appreciate the intricacies of any art form.

Additionally, she is committed to developing a strong, confident, and proud teaching faculty. To this end, she conducts numerous training programs each year, focusing on new teaching methodologies, technology, mental health, kindness, and adaptability. As part of the visionary need to promote teachers' talents, she introduced an inter-faculty talent fest 'Gurukool' where teachers from different schools come together to innovate and share ideas.

She actively encourages organization and digitalisation across the school. Her foresightedness led to the affiliation of the school to GSuite for Education in 2018, enabling all students and teachers to be a part of digital classrooms which helped the school transition seamlessly into online classes and assessments during the pandemic. Adding to the digital revolution and real world education, she advocates the use of social media and AI in the classroom and creates training modules for teachers to facilitate the same.

As the Programme Director of the Tarapore School Young Leaders Fellowship Programme, she oversaw three successful cycles in association with XLRI. The programme identifies promising students from across the city and engages them in a socially beneficial sustainable project for five months. The students are rewarded based on their performance with a grant for their further education.

Apart from her interest in education, Tina is also the vice chairperson of the Cheshire Home, Jamshedpur and on the board of SEEDS, Special Olympics Bharat and other not-for-profits.

In her current role as Trustee of the Narbod Educational Foundation, she seeks to spearhead change and adaptability across the Indian Education System where the availability of knowledge is no longer a problem, its application in the right path is. Her philosophy strikes a delicate balance between kindness and firmness. She believes that an educator's primary goal is to create good citizens who exude confidence and internalize peace.
