The Late Mr. J. H. Tarapore, the founder of Tarapore & Co., was born in a humble family in July 1901 and graduated from the Madras Christian College.
He had led his Company to excel in the field of construction in almost every corner of the country, in a career spanning over half a century.
A born leader, ambitious, stern yet compassionate towards people, he was loved and respected by one and all. His benevolent nature resulted in a charitable trust, which was started by him in 1979, benefiting various institutions especially for the under- privileged. Children were his first love and his thirst for knowledge created in him a desire to set up an educational institution in Chennai. This institution has also been built in his memory, with a firm hope that his high values will be instilled in the students who will graduate from this school.
